Empty Bleachers
I got there early
Before anyone else
I had to do so
In case I let some of it out
Right there in those stands
Is where it would have been
Me on one knee
And you with a huge grin
There’s where my eyes
Were taken by yours
I hope your new position
Brings that and much more
I reminded my mind
And played it all back
You asking me
about a baseball bat
My eyes went directly
to your left hand
Nothing was there
and I said yeah
We won our first game
And it felt great
I wanted to call you
And celebrate.
